    Experience gained through the completion of the course aid in the application process for post secondary education

    Students will learn how to present and execute a product for a client selected by ITL

Instructors
Dr. Ray Hsu
-ITL Founder
Dr. Ray Hsu is Founder and Director of the Immersive Technology Lab. He teaches courses on Virtual Reality in the UBC Future Global Leaders program and is Faculty in Residence at the Emerging Media Lab. He is Chair of the Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality User Group, which brings together faculty, students, and industry in order to showcase the latest projects in VR and AR. 

He completed his Bachelor's and Master's at the University of Toronto and received a full scholarship to study at a research institute in Cornell University during his Ph.D. He has collaborated on research projects with colleagues at Stanford and MIT. 

He started the Immersive Technology Lab last year as a place to find and nurture talent for the emerging technology sector and to serve as a bridge into some of the most exciting university technology labs in North America.

Janet Chen is the co-founder and VR Outreach Director of AGDA VR, the largest student group for virtual and mixed reality development at UBC. She works closely with students, faculty and industry professionals to create immersive education and research tools with Unity for the HTC Vive, Microsoft HoloLens, Google Cardboard, and more. She is currently the lead developer at the Emerging Media Lab, where she is creating an inclusive community for all VR & AR creators at UBC.

Building the Future

Our students work directly with Dr. Ray Hsu, Chair of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Working Group at the University of British Columbia. This group is tasked with exploring all aspects of VR / AR.


Team Building

Students will work in a professional environment where they form small teams and take solutions from concept to production .

Upon completion of the course, students receive a signed letter of recommendation fro the Director of ITL and exceptional students (top 10%) will receive a Certificate of Achievement which will aid in their post secondary application
